Journalism students are just like any other college students. We have classes, we have internships,we have social lives...sort of. However, there are certain responsibilities that we have on a weekly basis that other students do not. These are responsibilities that take significant time out of our schedule and ones that we constantly think about. Here are three thoughts that journalism students think about on a weekly basis:

1. Have I contacted my sources?

Journalism students, especially ones working for campus newspapers, are assigned at least one, but often more than one, news story to report on and write every week. In order to write these stories, we must set up interviews, and the first step to do this is to email or call people that we would like to talk to for the story. You'd be surprised how long it can take someone to get back to you. Add the pressure of handing the story in before deadline, contacting sources is one of the most important weekly tasks we have.

2. What time are my interviews?

The average journalism student will have several interviews a week with students, faculty, and/or administ

ration. Put these on top of our class schedules, projects, social lives, and extracurricular activities, it can be challenging sometimes to squeeze these interviews into our schedules. But, without the interviews, stories would not run, thus managing our time and working with other peoples' schedules is key to fulfilling this responsibility.

3. How will people react to my story?

This is a constant question that racks a journalism student's mind. Now, while this is a question that continues to be asked by journalists after they graduate from college, it is especially impactful for student journalists as we are just learning the ins and outs of journalism. Some students question there own journalistic skills until they've gained more experience in reporting and writing. This is one of the factors that drives us to get the correct information and statistics for our stories, as they are made public for everyone to see.
